Who would have thunk?
So... Yeah. Jodie Foster has been in a lesbian relationship for the past 14 years and, according to The National Enquirer, she has just split with her longterm partner Cydney Bernard. "What is shocking about this sudden revelation is that Jodie spoke of her attraction to women and of her relationship with Cyndey for the first time ever in public just about four months ago. Quoting her, she said. "My beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through the rotten and the bliss" (I believe the quote is from Yahoo News, but I am not sure, Blogger was acting up pretty badly last night, when I was writing this entry.)I was actually not aware of Foster's public "coming out" some four months ago. But anyone who did not know or, at least, suspected that Jodie was attracted to women rather than to men had to have his/her head buried in the sand.
I think very highly about Jodie Foster - the ultimate Francophile Hollywood celebrity who can actually speak French as well as a native (check out her performance in Jean-Pierre Jeunet's A Very Long Engagement, and I truly don't give a rat's ass as to her sexual orientation. She is a mightily attractive woman.

I love Jodie Foster too - although I knew she was gay. I thought is was just understood and she is a private enough person not to have an official "coming out". She seems wonderful - It's a shame about her relationship - they have two kids who I am sure are as heartbroken as they are.
Your upcoming trip sound wonderful - I used to be an American living in Paris - nice to see the opposite exists!
We were discussing this at the BBQ, I'm glad to see that the olympic committee decided to do the right thing!

alt. c: Foster's quote was taken from an award ceremony, I believe. Just part of her acceptance speech, no big to-do about coming out really.
I always thought it was cool that Foster does the French dub performances for her roles.

Alt. Claire - I think that the media always "overdoes" statements casually made by Hollywood stars during award acceptance speeches. I did not know that Jodie Foster did the French dub performances for her film roles. Her French is beyond impeccable. I'd love to know what her background with French really is.
