An American tragedy turned into a political commodity

Jérôme brought to his readers' attention, in an entry that he posted on his blog on 9/11, the Republican Party's "tribute" to 9/11 at its National Convention, and Keith Olbermann's emotional response to this exploitative piece of tripe (for those of my readers who do not know who he is, Olbermann is the very liberal host of the MSNBC show Countdown.)

In turn, I would like to bring this "tribute" to my readers' attention (I did not particularly follow the Republican National Convention, and was, therefore, not aware of that 9/11 "tribute.") So, here it is, followed by Keith Olbermann's initial, and quite emotional response to it:

On Wednesday, September 10, Keith Olbermann, made a lengthy "special" comment about the exploitation of the 9/11 tragedy by the Republican party. Although it is 8'15" long, it is well worth your while viewing it in its entirety, because Olbermann does not hesitate to spew his bile on John McCain - and he does it in a very emotional way. It's a very powerful editorial, that's for sure.

And it will definitely upset Republicans and anyone who admires, and plans to vote for John McCain.

MSNBC managed to get this clip off You Tube, but you can still view it here.

As mentioned by Alison in her comment to this post, both Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews were removed by MSNBC "as the anchors of live political events, bowing to growing criticism that they are too opinionated to be seen as neutral in the heat of the presidential campaign." Isn't Olbermann's show (and Matthews) going to be canceled? Its a shame even though I didn't like their attacks on Clinton.

Yeah, but Keith, how do you really feel?
Missed this segment of the RNC--might have still been getting home from work. Glad somebody had the balls to call it what it was.

@vertigo, Olbermann and Matthews will no longer cover live political events.

And I'm surprised that Thomas Newman gave permission for his music to be used in the "tribute" video. His piano is unmistakable.

PS: I really enjoyed the video about Belgium!
